Hopewell Township has decided not to sell the public water system that serves Washington Crossing Estates, Mayor Jim Burd said.
Township officials were considering the sale of the system, which has had leaks and other problems.
Residents of Washington Crossing estates, a 100-home development in the western section of the township, were adamantly opposed to the sale.
“The Township Committee feels it would be better for the township and residents not to sell the system,” Mayor Burd said. “We’ve met with the residents of Washington Crossing Estates, and they understand that, if there are any problems with the system, they’ll be responsible for the cost.”
